Welcome to the May 2022 issue of Living. Loving. Growing. online magazine!

This month contains a mixed bag of stories and “Random Thoughts” that have surfaced over the last several weeks. A little bit of this. A little bit of that.
I’ve spent the majority of May at home, building the new website. My gigs have been my only real opportunity to get out and socialize. With life seeming somewhat uneventful, I wondered if I’d lack inspiration to write. (Don’t worry, you’re not about to read a full-length tutorial on how to build a website. LOL.) I quickly realized that would only be a problem if I wasn’t paying attention.
Life offers no shortage of inspiring moments. They’re all around us, even if we barely leave the house!

Wishing you all the best,
Erin Hart

Jewel of St. John

Two weeks ago, Patrick brought a group of friends to my Friday night gig at Cruz Bay Landing. A few of them were unfamiliar with my original music, so he’d requested his favorite songs and quickly filled them in on the back stories. During a break I sat down at...

Sixth Sense

I am convinced that performing music taps me into a sixth sense. Much like meditation, it gives me an awareness of being deeply connected to everything around me. I feel a heightened sensitivity to the energy of my surroundings. Most notably, I have an uncanny...

Superhero Sessions

Just as I was wrapping up last month’s issue where I’d shared my New Thought: “It is okay to move from surviving to thriving,” I opened my Insight Timer app to find a free course being offered by instructor Kate James. It was literally titled, “From Surviving...

Happy Little Things

Last fall I shared that I was in a state of social media overwhelm and feeling pretty paralyzed. “Reels” were the hottest new trend and I had no idea what they were or how to use them. I set the intention to educate myself and work them into my social media mix....

Endless Summer State of Mind: Song Download

Heading into June, I am thoroughly looking forward to weekly sunset sail concerts aboard S/V Second Chance with Beach Charters VI. I am thrilled that we are seeing enough momentum with the sails to feel confident about booking them so frequently. I am equally...

Never Boring: May 2022 Soundtrack

Another lifetime ago when people still made mix tapes, someone close to me explained that music was the soundtrack to our lives and he didn’t want my soundtrack to be boring.  Every month, I will curate a Spotify playlist inspired by the latest issue of...

Track Highlight

To say that I was influenced by the Indigo Girls may be an understatement. In the 90’s I owned all their books of guitar tablature. I could play every song. Memorized every lyric. I learned their picking patterns and alternate tunings… To access this post, you...

Good for a Giggle

I’ve had “Wagon Wheel” on the brain lately. As many of you may recall, everyone and their sister had “Wagon Wheel” on the brain for a while there. It was a song that you couldn’t escape if you tried. If you were anywhere with a sound system or live music, you...

Prompted: By Music Is Magic

Behind ‘Prompted”: In July 2020, I was approached by an intern at PBS and asked to take part in a creative video project for their “American Portrait” series. The concept was simply to create a 20-60 second video of any kind that responded to the prompt “At This...

Tools and the Takeaway

I think the takeaway is this: Sometimes life can feel like we’re stuck waiting for the next big thing to happen. For me that was getting the new website launched. For someone else it might be an upcoming vacation, a new relationship on the horizon, or maybe an…...
